facts

Hi :)

Since I am new around here, and I don't really have set posts yet, I thought I would share some facts about me here and there (or as I think of them lol).

FACT: I  am OBSESSED with Harry Potter.
No, I didn't wait in long lines until midnight dressed as a student of Hogwarts when a new movie premiered at the theater, but I have all 7 books and all 8 movies. Anytime my fiancee wants to get my attention or get me to really watch TV with him (not crochet and listen to TV) he will turn on Harry Potter. I will literally put down whatever it is I am doing and watch, even though I've seen it before.

I have a confession to make though...
I've only ever read the first book.
*slaps hand over mouth*

I know, I know... Seems ludicrous to call myself obsessed, but when the books came out, I was at an age where reading really wasn't something I enjoyed. I really loved the first book though, and I finished it in time to see the first movie in the theater shortly after.

I would say that the first book got my love of reading sparked. After reading the book, then watching the movie, I made it a goal to read all the books before seeing the movies in the theater. Well that plan obviously fell through. The movies came out, I watched them all (over and over) and I still hadn't read more then that first book.

FACT: I'm good at making goals for myself and writing them down, but not so good at completing them.

I really want to work on this. So I'm going to start a new goal list, but I'm not going to put a time limit on it. I think that's why whenever I do make goals, I rarely ever reach them by the time I've allotted myself.

First on my list of goals will be to start reading my Harry Potter series.

Wish me luck!

Do you make goals often? Do you have a hard time completing them?

  1. I'm not a Harry Potter pan, but I have a nephew that is. I think he has all the books too.

I wish you luck on completing your goal Stephi. :)

    1. I tried to read the books before all the movies came out, but I procrastinated way too much :( lol Oh well! No time like the present!

  5. Read them. You'll fall in love all over again! I too am obsessed, but have read all the books (more times than a sane person would like to admit). And, for me, I feel like the movies left a lot of holes that if I hadn't read the books probably would of confused me, and the movies downplayed some of my all time favorite characters!

    1. I have a feeling that at some point, I will be rereading and rereading this series until the end of my lifetime lol I love it that much! I've already noticed a few things that were left out of the first movie that is in the first book so I'm expecting more of that to happen throughout all the books. I guess that's what happens when you have to tell a very detailed story in a short amount of time haha

    2. And alot of things (not mentioning specifics) didn't seem important when the books were coming out one by one and the movies were being made. BUT then the 6th and 7th books came out and there are about a billion aha moments. And I've reread them all (I'm on at least my 4th copy of the 2nd book because I read them to pieces), they are just as good the 12th time as the 1st!

    3. I can't wait to get to those "Aha!" moments!

  6. I'm not huge on the Harry Potter thing. I don't know why, but it seems I missed the boat on that one (and Lord of the Rings). It just doesn't speak to me the way it speaks to everyone else. Oh well. What can ya do!?

On the goal front. I make a lot of goals, for sure, and some I meet, some I don't. I like to think most of the important ones get done, though. It just feel so good to cross things off the list, that I find myself bound and determined to get down to business some days.

Welcome to the blog world, and thanks for popping by Gypsy in Jasper!

    1. I wasn't a huge fan at first. I was like, "What's the big deal?" Then I gave in and read the first book and was like, "Holy moley! I need to see this movie NOW!" Same thing happened with Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey lol Loved the Twilight movies... Still need to read the books though... And I've read all of the 50 Shades of Grey so I'm all set for when it comes out in theaters next year!

I suppose I should start thinking of it that way... Eventually it will get done, just not sure when. I am the queen of procrastination. So bad. I have to be in a certain mood to complete certain tasks. I hate it!

Thank you! :) I've been a reader and follower of your blog for a while and I love your little space. One of my daily reads :)

  7. Hi, Stephanie! I came from Debi Y.'s blog :)
And I was so happy to see a fellow-Harry Potter-obsessed crocheter! yey) I LOVE HP movies and books... I confess< i read only 4 books out of 7, but watched all the movies many times! When Books were out there I had mu study going on, and simply couldn't have made into reading HP plus to the main course of literature.
So no worries, one step at a time.
Come over to my blog, may be you will also find something interesting for yourself there.
    Good day,
    Anna.

I'm glad I'm not the only fan who hasn't read all the books!

      I'll check it out! Thanks!

  8. I was obsessed with Harry Potter too. Without waiting in bookstore or movie lines haha. I've read all of the books as soon as it came out. Just to AVOID the spoilers from online after one troll ruined a book for me D:

You should definitely take your time with it. I've found myself skimming bits just to get to the good parts xD

    1. I got all my books after the first part of Deathly Hallows came out on dvd at the De Anza Flea Market. At $4 each, I had to get them! The paper covering is a little tattered, but the pages are fine.

I'm kind of a slow-ish reader, plus I have a toddler so the only part that's frustrating me so far is the stopping and rereading lol

Thanks for stopping by :) I love your Instagram feed and I love the new blog look!
