progress :: vol 11

Hi :)

It's been a while since my last WIP/progress update so I thought I'd share a little bit of what I've been doing lately.

::READING::

I'm still reading the 3rd book in the Harry Potter series. I'm on page 183 of 435. I would probably be farther along in the book if I wasn't so occupied with my yarny crafting :)
Either way, I'm so happy that I'm sticking to this reading goal :) I'm really enjoying it and I'm going to make a list (at some point) of books that I have that I want to start reading.

::KNITTING::

I started the KAL that I mentioned here (and also here).
Here is my progress on that (via Instagram):

[Up close of the stitches; 5 repeats in.]

I started it October 1st and I've done 8 of the 4 row repeats. I'm really enjoying this pattern. It's nice and relaxing to work on and I really love the color.

::CROCHET::

I finally finished minion! Poor guy was lying around for quite a while haha
 [In progress.]
 [Almost finished! Just needs the symbol on the overalls.]
[Up close of his face :)]

My aunt was pretty happy with him too :)
[Love you aunt Gwen!!]

She had me take a picture with him before he went home with her:
[We match!]

She sent me this picture of him to share with you guys as well:
He was a lot of work and a lot of making it up as I go (and HELL on my finger tips), but definitely worth it in the end. Now my son wants one lol

What projects are you working on?
Send me pictures here or leave a link to your blog! I'd love to see :)

Have a great weekend, friend! See you Monday!!

progress :: vol 9

Hi :)

Since Monday was a holiday, I didn't get a chance to share with you my progress from last weekend's 'To Do' list.

Work on Minion:
I think the last time I worked on minion, I over did it. I have no desire to touch him right now lol No worries though... I'm more than half way finished with him so he will get done at some point!

Work on Mom's Scarf:
The progress I've made on this really isn't picture worthy. Only worked a few rows before I got tired of looking at it. Also more than half way finished with it so it will get finished soon... It is September after all; going to start getting cold soon! (I hope!!)

Make a Project List:
 I've only written down what I can remember, since my memory is HORRIBLE, I'm sure I've left off a thing or two. (Also not pictured; maybe in another post.)

Read:
I'm now on page 306 of 341, so a HUGE improvement now that I've actually had time to read! Not so easy when you have a toddler asking you to do something every 10 seconds once he sees you sit down and get comfy. Of course when you're not really doing anything he doesn't need you. Go figure. I can't wait to get started on the next book!! So close!!

Practice Knitting:
(Images taken from my Instagram)

Cable Stitch
(How To Video Here)

Fake Entrelac Stitch
(How To Video Here)
 {Not sure if that's what it's called, but that's what it's called in the video I used to learn it.}

Spine Stitch
(How To Video Here)

I'm really enjoying the practice :) I can't wait to get some DPNs (double pointed needles) and circular needles so I can start making scarves and hats!!

I didn't work on everything on the list, but I did a lot more of the things on the list than the lists before so I give my self a pat on the back :)

This weekend will be the same as most weekends: at home, crocheting, knitting, reading, playing trains with my son, watching Thomas the Train movies, etc. I think I will stop making a weekend plans list unless something exciting will be happening. Otherwise I feel like every post will be exactly the same.

What do you have planned for this weekend?

See you Monday friend!

progress :: vol 8

Hi :)

I hope you had a good weekend.

So on Friday, I shared what I wanted to get done this weekend. Here's my progress:

Work on minion:
This is pretty much the only thing I did this weekend lol
 Here's his front.
And here's his back.
Not as perfect as I would like. The pictures aren't the greatest, but you can still see my progress with him. I'm making up everything as I go though. If I make another in the future, I'm sure there will be a little tweaking.
He still needs arms, mouth, overall straps, goggles, eyes, and the logo on the front pocket.

Read:
I think I read maybe 2 pages. I kept getting interrupted so I gave up haha

Make a list of projects that need to be finished:
I did a lot of laying around on Saturday and Sunday I was working on minion so this didn't get done. Soon though.

Practice more knitting:
My fingers are so sore from minion making that crocheting and knitting are not even on my mind right now. ...Okay, so maybe they are on my mind, (who am I kidding?) I just don't think I could work on anything right now without my fingers and hands being uncomfortable.

So, I got a lot done this weekend, just not as much as I wanted. Maybe I can do a little here and there throughout the week. I'm going to try to limit my internet time this week. Every time I get on the computer, I get side tracked and next thing I know 4 hours have gone by. Not good.

If things aren't looking right (maybe a video for the tutorials is still marked as private because I forgot to change it to public) please let me know! Haha I'll still be stopping in this week, I just won't be perusing the internet while I check on bloggy things *crossing fingers*

See you tomorrow for our crochet lesson!!

progress :: vol 7

Hi :)

So this weekend was definitely a lot more eventful than last weekend!

I've had such an urge to want to knit and it's literally all I can think about!! I remember feeling this way before I learned how to crochet. I'm hoping that with a little practice, that I will be able to knit as well as I can crochet, otherwise the only thing I'll be knitting is basic knit scarves haha

I can't for the life of me find my knitting needles that I acquired while in high school :( However, I did find this kit in my bag of crochet books:
So I've been practicing a little bit with these needles until I can get to a craft store to stock up on knitting needles.
This is what I've knit up so far:
A little sample swatch of a color work pattern.
I have no idea what it's going to be or if it will ever be anything, but I'm loving the practice.

And I'm currently knitting this:
(close up of the stitch)
I think this will be a cup or mug cozy.
I love the colors! And it's scented, which was a total mistake lol I bought the skein because the colors reminded me of candy and I didn't even read that it was scented on the label (duh). Lesson learned!

No reading this weekend :(

I've also been working on project minion... This is his progress:
Still need to finish the overalls, make goggles, eyeballs, hair, arms, and legs. It will get finished though. I need to stop procrastinating! lol

Speaking of procrastination, which I am the Queen of, I still haven't worked on my mom's scarf.
*feels shame*
I hope I can get it done by Halloween so my mom can wear it when it starts to get cold around here. We shall see...

And I still haven't touched my loom knit scarf that I started. I hope to finish that before Christmas and either sell it or give it to someone for a present.

I was thinking of posting a list, or at least writing one down, of projects that people have asked for or I've said I would make them so that I can start making them and scratching them off the list. I really want need to work on my procrastination with my projects.

How was your weekend?
Do you have an ever-growing list of projects too?

Come back tomorrow for another crochet lesson!!

progress :: vol 5

Hi :)

I hope you had a great weekend!

Friday evening, I trimmed my hair (finally)!
I've been wanting to trim it for a while, but it's just been too dang hot and when I trim my hair myself, I have to straighten it because my hair is so curly and I am in no way a hair dresser or expert. So, I'm happy to have been able to do it finally.

(Sleepy)                                                               (Sunburned)

Saturday, I was supposed to go with my best friend, Eva, to her body building meeting with her trainer, but her trainers were swamped so we ended up going to the Fremont Art and Wine Festival.
We were there from about 12-5 and it was so fun! However, I did get sunburned :( [you can kind of see in the picture above] Thankfully, I was mostly covered (shoulders and neck) so only my face and arms got it bad.

Sunday, was just a relaxing day at home with some reading and crochet.
I'm still reading book 2 in the Harry Potter series. I'm on page 182 of 341  now so I still have a bit to go, but I know I'll be moving on to book 3 (Prisoner of Azkaban) very soon. Can't put it down :)

I'm also working on an amigurumi for my aunt. She loves minions (honestly though, who doesn't?!) so she asked if I could make her one. It's the first minion I've made and the first amigurumi I've worked on in a long time. It cramps up my hands really bad, so I don't make many. I'm excited to see the end result!

Only a few rows in, but so far it's turning out well :)

What about you? What did you do this weekend?

Don't forget to come by tomorrow for another Crochet 101 lesson! We're learning how to do the half double crochet stitch! The lessons are starting to get more exciting now, so you'll want to make sure you stick around :)

See you tomorrow, friend!

progress :: vol 4

Hi :)

Happy Monday friend!

How was your weekend? Do anything exciting?

I mostly worked on my pile of WIPs:

Remember John's beanie?
Well there was some of this going on this weekend:
It was a little bigger than I wanted... I pulled out 10 rows! :(
...but I finished it!!
 *phew*

I also finished another beanie I was working on for my cousin Danica (John's wife). I originally posted the beginnings of this beanie on Instagram:
...and here it is finished:
 I love the color of this beanie! The pattern is amazing also... nice and quick and looks great when it's finished.

Besides crocheting, I also read some more Harry Potter:
I'm on page 101 of 341 in book number 2 (Chamber of Secrets). Still a long way to go, but I can't wait to get through them all!!

Did anyone go to the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco this weekend?

I wanted to go so badly :'( I've been checking their Instagram feed and seeing all the amazing things that the sellers are selling... Gah! I would've loved to be there to see it all in person! I guess I'll have to wait until December to go... I already marked my calendar so now all I have to do is make sure I save up so I can grab some goodies!! I'll go alone if I have to! Lol

See you tomorrow for another Crochet 101 lesson!!
(We're learning the single crochet stitch this week!!)

progress :: vol II

Hi :)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

I didn't do anything exciting... Honestly, I rarely really ever do anything exciting, but if I do, you'll be the first to know about it! lol I mostly read and crocheted, so the usual :)

Anywho, in Friday's post, I shared my weekend goals/plans, so I thought I'd show you my progress:

Read some more Harry Potter:
 I'm happy to report that this goal is being completed successfully (*knocks on wood*). I'm on page 107 of 309 in the first book! 6 more books to go!!

Work on my mom's scarf:
I am sad to report that this did not happen...

And John's Beanie is still waiting to be finished.
(Anyone else put they're WIPs in Ziplock bags?)

However, I was busy doing some very exciting bloggy things for you guys so it was a good trade-off (in my eyes lol).

Take pictures for upcoming tutorials:

I did get some pictures taken... But I cant show you yet ;)

Have a lovely Monday! See you tomorrow :)

progress :: vol I

Hi :)

How was your weekend? Still recovering from the 4th?

In my last post, I shared a few things that I wanted to get done this weekend.

Here's my progress:

John's beanie:
He requested black and 'John Deer' green stripes. I've only got the crown part finished... Still have about 15ish more rows to do before it's finished.

Mom's scarf:
This is the scarf as it is now.

Here's a close up of the stitches. I don't know what this pattern is, but I've seen it on Pinterest and I just made it up as I went. I'm thinking of ripping it all out, though, and making a cowl instead of an infinity scarf. Not sure yet. I have 12 days before her birthday though, so it needs to be finished very soon!

I still need to get a blogging journal/notebook. For now I'm using a notebook with random things written in it. Once I get a designated space for blog writing, I'll share it with you :)

I thought I'd share something else I've been working on:
My first loom scarf! The pattern is also made up. I basically combined a few things I saw on YouTube and started looming... There might be a post/tutorial coming on this. I haven't decided yet.

Hope you enjoyed my sharing :)

Happy Monday!
