goals

Hi :)

Since it is a new year and most people make resolutions at this time, I thought I would share my list of goals for this year.

 photo PicMonkeyCollage_zpsc16cbfe7.jpg

♥ Exercise more ♥
I do absolutely no exercising whatsoever, except when out and about, then of course I'm doing some walking. but other than that, nothing. This has to change if I want to feel better about myself.

♥ Eat healthier ♥
This goes along with the above goal. I eat way to many sweets and chips. Time to do some smarter grocery shopping in 2014.

♥ Procrastinate less ♥
I am the QUEEN of procrastination. I can always "do something in a little bit" or "later" when really, I should be doing it as I'm thinking about it because I will more than likely forget about said thing in a little bit/later.

♥ Knit/crochet more ♥
I do both of these plenty, but I could always be doing more. (See above goal.)

♥ Finish ALL WIPs ♥
I have way too many projects that need finishing and the list seems to be getting longer and longer! This year, I'm going to finish them all before starting anything new... (also, see above 2 goals.)

♥ Sew more ♥
I got a fancy sewing machine for Mother's Day last year and I'd love to put it to good use! This year, I want to do much more sewing and maybe incorporate it into my knitting and crocheting.

This was a goal of mine when I started this blog, but then Christmas came and I had to put everything that wasn't knit/crochet related to the side to finish presents. I really would like to finish the rest of the Harry Potter series this year.

♥ Get more tutorials for the blog put together ♥
These take a lot of time, but if done right, they pay off for both you and for me as well. I love that the internet is the first place most people go to learn something new and I would love to be apart of that and give back, since most of the things I have learned and shared with you I have found on the internet.

♥ Get things set up to open online store ♥
This goal is 2 years in the making. Whoever said, "You need money to make money" knew what they were talking about. Every time I'm ready to get a step ahead, I have to take a few steps back. I'm hoping that 2014 will be the year for me to make this dream happen.

I'm sure I'll be adding to this list at some point, but this is a good start for me.

Have you made any resolutions for 2014?
I'd love to hear yours :)

Don't forget to come back tomorrow to see what presents I made for Christmas!

moving forward...

Hi :)

So this week... Kind of went by SUPER SLOW. Anyone else feel that way?

I've been surfing around Pinterest lately (you can see my pins and boards here) and I came across this:
give it up and move forward.
(via)

I felt like I needed to share this because I do a lot of the things on this list.

One of the reasons I started this blog was to share my love of crochet and my finished projects with others and to make new friends with similar interests, but I also wanted to start blogging because I really want to turn my love of making things into a small business.

Right now I am a stay-at-home-mom because, unfortunately, pre-school and daycare and asking people to watch your child for you costs money. It's hard to pay for such when you have only one income coming in... I feel like it is a blessing in disguise though, because I have been able to be there for all the firsts and I've seen my baby grow into a very smart little boy. I would love to be there for him when he starts school and they need parent volunteers and things like that and I feel the only way for my schedule to be open for these types of things is to work from home; doing something that I love!

There are a lot of things that need to happen before I start selling anything though, which I am trying to work on and make things in the meantime. But this list really hit home for me, so I thought I'd share.

Anyone else do any of these things?

Have a great weekend, and I will see you back here Monday, friend :)

progress :: vol II

Hi :)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

I didn't do anything exciting... Honestly, I rarely really ever do anything exciting, but if I do, you'll be the first to know about it! lol I mostly read and crocheted, so the usual :)

Anywho, in Friday's post, I shared my weekend goals/plans, so I thought I'd show you my progress:

Read some more Harry Potter:
I'm happy to report that this goal is being completed successfully (*knocks on wood*). I'm on page 107 of 309 in the first book! 6 more books to go!!

Work on my mom's scarf:
I am sad to report that this did not happen...

And John's Beanie is still waiting to be finished.
(Anyone else put they're WIPs in Ziplock bags?)

However, I was busy doing some very exciting bloggy things for you guys so it was a good trade-off (in my eyes lol).

Take pictures for upcoming tutorials:

I did get some pictures taken... But I cant show you yet ;)

Have a lovely Monday! See you tomorrow :)

facts

Hi :)

Since I am new around here, and I don't really have set posts yet, I thought I would share some facts about me here and there (or as I think of them lol).

FACT: I  am OBSESSED with Harry Potter.
No, I didn't wait in long lines until midnight dressed as a student of Hogwarts when a new movie premiered at the theater, but I have all 7 books and all 8 movies. Anytime my fiancee wants to get my attention or get me to really watch TV with him (not crochet and listen to TV) he will turn on Harry Potter. I will literally put down whatever it is I am doing and watch, even though I've seen it before.

I have a confession to make though...
I've only ever read the first book.
*slaps hand over mouth*

I know, I know... Seems ludicrous to call myself obsessed, but when the books came out, I was at an age where reading really wasn't something I enjoyed. I really loved the first book though, and I finished it in time to see the first movie in the theater shortly after.

I would say that the first book got my love of reading sparked. After reading the book, then watching the movie, I made it a goal to read all the books before seeing the movies in the theater. Well that plan obviously fell through. The movies came out, I watched them all (over and over) and I still hadn't read more then that first book.

FACT: I'm good at making goals for myself and writing them down, but not so good at completing them.

I really want to work on this. So I'm going to start a new goal list, but I'm not going to put a time limit on it. I think that's why whenever I do make goals, I rarely ever reach them by the time I've allotted myself.

First on my list of goals will be to start reading my Harry Potter series.

Wish me luck!

Do you make goals often? Do you have a hard time completing them?

progress :: vol I

Hi :)

How was your weekend? Still recovering from the 4th?

In my last post, I shared a few things that I wanted to get done this weekend.

Here's my progress:

John's beanie:
He requested black and 'John Deer' green stripes. I've only got the crown part finished... Still have about 15ish more rows to do before it's finished.

Mom's scarf:
This is the scarf as it is now.

Here's a close up of the stitches. I don't know what this pattern is, but I've seen it on Pinterest and I just made it up as I went. I'm thinking of ripping it all out, though, and making a cowl instead of an infinity scarf. Not sure yet. I have 12 days before her birthday though, so it needs to be finished very soon!

I still need to get a blogging journal/notebook. For now I'm using a notebook with random things written in it. Once I get a designated space for blog writing, I'll share it with you :)

I thought I'd share something else I've been working on:
My first loom scarf! The pattern is also made up. I basically combined a few things I saw on YouTube and started looming... There might be a post/tutorial coming on this. I haven't decided yet.

Hope you enjoyed my sharing :)

Happy Monday!
