moving forward...

Hi :)

So this week... Kind of went by SUPER SLOW. Anyone else feel that way?

I've been surfing around Pinterest lately (you can see my pins and boards here) and I came across this:
give it up and move forward.
(via)

I felt like I needed to share this because I do a lot of the things on this list.

One of the reasons I started this blog was to share my love of crochet and my finished projects with others and to make new friends with similar interests, but I also wanted to start blogging because I really want to turn my love of making things into a small business.

Right now I am a stay-at-home-mom because, unfortunately, pre-school and daycare and asking people to watch your child for you costs money. It's hard to pay for such when you have only one income coming in... I feel like it is a blessing in disguise though, because I have been able to be there for all the firsts and I've seen my baby grow into a very smart little boy. I would love to be there for him when he starts school and they need parent volunteers and things like that and I feel the only way for my schedule to be open for these types of things is to work from home; doing something that I love!

There are a lot of things that need to happen before I start selling anything though, which I am trying to work on and make things in the meantime. But this list really hit home for me, so I thought I'd share.

Anyone else do any of these things?

Have a great weekend, and I will see you back here Monday, friend :)

lust list :: vol 6

Hi :)

Anyone who truly knows me, knows I have an obsession with leopard print. So today's lust list is inspired by this glorious print of the leopard.

This hooded zip up jacket looks so comfy! I would like one in either color... or both!!

This sweater is amazing.

I think I could rock this dress (the one on the right). Looks like it would be great at hiding tummy fluffiness :)

I love the color of the flower and this bow is just so cute!

I love this phone case! (and the colors totally match the bow)

I couldn't find any decent shoes or purses that I liked, go figure. I'll probably find them when I'm not looking haha

See you tomorrow friend!

blog love :: okay, allison

Hi :)

I hope your week is going well.

Remember in this post I briefly mentioned my buddy, my pal, Allison
Well, I first came across her blog through Jennifer, who blogs over at Grits and Moxie, when she posted this feature sponsor post. I went to check out Allison's blog and it was love at first read.

Allison is super funny (read this post and this post) and, through her writing, I could tell she was a 'tell it like it is' kind of girl. I like people like that. I left a couple of comments here and there on her blog before and once I started this blog I included the link in with a comment on one of her posts. I didn't think she would stop by, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to sneak it in.

She stopped by THAT DAY and emailed me THAT DAY.

I was so shocked/excited/surprised to see her name as a sender in my mailbox, I literally refreshed my browser page 3 times to make sure I wasn't seeing things. She said that she was grateful for my support of her blog and offered to advertise my blog button on her page to show her support. I felt like I was in a dream reading this.

I had wanted to make crochet and learning to crochet apart of this blog before I decided to make it official. After Allison posted her interest in learning to crochet, I told her that I was planning on doing a crochet 'how to' series and she thought it would be genius (and it is) for us to get together on the series. She will be learning to crochet through me! I'm so happy to be teaching someone to crochet, even if it is through a computer screen.

We talk through e mail and I follow her on every social media outlet I'm signed up for, and we've just bonded through all this correspondence. It feels great to have that support, especially from someone who I admire as a blogger and, now that I know her a little better, as a human being.

She has such a huge heart and is such a sweet, supportive person and I'm glad I left my blog link in a comment on her blog because I feel like this friendship is going to be a great lasting one :) I can't wait to meet her 'in real life' someday! haha

Stop by her blog today to learn a little more about me and see how she's doing with the Crochet 101 series.

See you tomorrow, friend!

lust list :: vol II

Hi :)

Happy Friday!!

I hope your week has been going well.

Did you start any of the tutorials in my Crochet 101 series? How is it going so far? Good I hope :) I hope you are as excited about learning crochet as I am to show you!

I don't know about you, but...

FACT: I love handbags! (Really, what girl doesn't?!)

The most bags I've had at one time was I think 8. Maybe not a lot to some, maybe way too many, but it was the perfect amount of selection to me.

I haven't actually used a purse in almost 5 years. Basically since I had my son. Everything I needed was in his diaper bag, and now in a mini backpack.

I have been computer screen shopping (online version of window shopping) a lot lately and the one of the items I have been searching for most is handbags.

Here are some I've been lusting over:

This bag from Baggu.com
Perfect bag for yarny projects on the go! And not only is it a perfect print (alpaca!!!), the price is so affordable! I mean, come on! $12?! And the shipping is cheap.

This bag from Target
Merona® Hobo Bag - Green
I love the color, the size, and the style of this bag!

These 2 bags from Pacsun
Bayside Beach Tote Bag
(source)

Tribal Gear Bag
(source)
I love the colors and patterns on both of these! Makes me miss working at Pacsun for my discount haha

And last, but definitely not least, this purse from Aldoshoes.com

There are so many things I love about this bag! The shape/style, the color, the doily/lace pattern on the outside, and the inside is so spacious! I would literally DIE if I had this purse!!!

Crossing my fingers that I will own one of these purses soon/someday!!

Are you in love with handbags too?

I hope you have a good weekend!! I don't have any major plans, but I'm hoping to put a huge dent in my reading goal!

See you on Monday, friend :)

facts

Hi :)

Since I am new around here, and I don't really have set posts yet, I thought I would share some facts about me here and there (or as I think of them lol).

FACT: I  am OBSESSED with Harry Potter.
No, I didn't wait in long lines until midnight dressed as a student of Hogwarts when a new movie premiered at the theater, but I have all 7 books and all 8 movies. Anytime my fiancee wants to get my attention or get me to really watch TV with him (not crochet and listen to TV) he will turn on Harry Potter. I will literally put down whatever it is I am doing and watch, even though I've seen it before.

I have a confession to make though...
I've only ever read the first book.
*slaps hand over mouth*

I know, I know... Seems ludicrous to call myself obsessed, but when the books came out, I was at an age where reading really wasn't something I enjoyed. I really loved the first book though, and I finished it in time to see the first movie in the theater shortly after.

I would say that the first book got my love of reading sparked. After reading the book, then watching the movie, I made it a goal to read all the books before seeing the movies in the theater. Well that plan obviously fell through. The movies came out, I watched them all (over and over) and I still hadn't read more then that first book.

FACT: I'm good at making goals for myself and writing them down, but not so good at completing them.

I really want to work on this. So I'm going to start a new goal list, but I'm not going to put a time limit on it. I think that's why whenever I do make goals, I rarely ever reach them by the time I've allotted myself.

First on my list of goals will be to start reading my Harry Potter series.

Wish me luck!

Do you make goals often? Do you have a hard time completing them?
