Knit Diamond ☆PATTERN☆

Hi :)

Today, I'm sharing a knit pattern I came up with recently.

I've seen this 3D cube pattern on Pinterest before, but in a crochet version.

I wanted to make a knit version, but wasn't finding what I was looking for. So, I sat down, played around with a pattern, and this is what I came up with!
--------------------
This pattern requires you to know basic knit terminology, as well as the knit stitch.

For increases, I used the "kfb" method - bring needle into the front of the stitch as if to knit and knit (keep loop on the needle), then swing the needle to the back of that same stitch and knit through the back of the stitch. Drop the loop off the needle. 1 extra stitch made; 2 stitches made total.
--------------------
Now, to make the 3D cube, you first have to make 3 diamond shapes.

To start your diamond:

CO 2 sts.
Row 1: k
Row 2: kfb (x2) - 4sts
Row 3-4: k
Row 5: k, kfb (x2), k - 6sts
Row 6-7: k
Row 8: k, kfb, k2, kfb, k - 8sts
Row 9-10: k
Row 11: k, kfb, k4, kfb, k - 10sts
Row 12-13: k
Row 14: k, kfb, k6, kfb, k - 12sts
Row 15-16: k
Row 17: k, kfb, k8, kfb, k - 14sts
Row 18-19: k
Row 20: k, kfb, k10, kfb, k - 16sts
Row 21-22: k
~Start Decreases~
Row 23: k, ssk, k10, k2tog, k - 14sts
Row 24-25: k
Row 26: k, ssk, k8, k2tog, k - 12sts
Row 27-28: k
Row 29: k, ssk, k6, k2tog, k - 10sts
Row 30-31: k
Row 32: k, ssk, k4, k2tog, k - 8sts
Row 33-34: k
Row 35: k, ssk, k2, k2tog, k - 6sts
Row 36-37: k
Row 38: k, ssk, k2tog, k - 4sts
Row 39-40: k
Row 41: ssk, k2tog - 2sts
Row 42: BO (knit 2 sts, bring second st over first to bind off. Pull yarn through and clip tail.)

Your diamond should look like this:

Now make 2 more in your colors of choice. I chose a darker gray and a navy blue.

Next, you will sew the sides together to make your cube; like this:

And that's it!

Make a ton of cubes and sew those together to make your blanket 🙂

If you would like a smaller cube, change the number of stitches you increase to in your diamond before you start to decrease.

I wanted a bigger cube because I am making a huge blanket!

Thanks for joining me today! Please, if you use this pattern, link to your projects on Ravelry. I'd love to see your creations!
